portrayal of a father.
Connery, 72, beat Dennis Hopper’s acclaimed role in True Romance and James Stewart in the film classic It’s a Wonderful Life in a survey of 4,250 fathers by online DVD and video store www.splashdvd.com. Other popular pops were Tom Hanks in Road to Perdition, Robert De Niro in the comedy Meet The Parents, Chevy Chase from the National Lampoon series, Steve Martin in Parenthood, Dustin Hoffman in Kramer Vs Kramer and Kevin Spacey in American Beauty. The survey, conducted to coincide with Father’s Day, revealed that Mel Gibson’s Oscar-winning epic Braveheart was the most popular film with fathers, followed by Jaws, Blazing Saddles and An American Werewolf in London. The least popular films for fathers were The Sound of Music, Beaches, Dirty Dancing, Moulin Rouge and Titanic. The all-time classic The Great Escape was the film that fathers are most likely to watch with pals, followed by The Blues Brothers. |
