Sean Connery: Still the Sexiest Man Alive 10th July 2003 Sean Connery, the original James Bond and current Extraordinary Gentleman is still by far the object of many women's desires, according to a recent poll conducted by Date.com, a leading online dating site. Date.com posed the question: "It's summertime and the probability of you getting stranded on a desert island has increased right along with your darkening tan lines. Which celebrity would you like to be watching the sun set with?" Date.com mixed up old favorites with more recent stars in the poll choices, conducted July 3 - 8, 2003, and asked members to select the celebrity with whom fun in the sun was most appealing. Men were given the choice of: Queen Latifah, Charlie's Angels (Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu), Martha Stewart, Reese Witherspoon or Jennifer Garner. Meanwhile, women were asked to pick from: Ashton Kutcher, Johnny Depp, Donald Rumsfeld, Will Smith or Sean Connery. The overwhelming winner among women was Sean Connery, garnering 32 percent of the votes. Johnny Depp was a close second with 25 percent of women opting for his company. Will Smith and Ashton Kutcher ranked in at 18 percent and 21 percent, respectively. Among men, almost half or 46 percent chose Charlie's Angels. The second and third spots were occupied by Alias hottie Jennifer Garner and Legally Blonde's Reese Witherspoon, who both garnered 21 and 17 percent, respectively. Rounding out the bottom of the list were Queen Latifah with 11 percent, recently indicted Martha Stewart with 4 percent and tough-talking politico Donald Rumsfeld, who weighed in with a lowly 2 percent of women choosing him as their island-mate. "The Date.com results prove that with women, classics are always in style," said Brenda Ross, relationship advisor for Date.com. "And men can't be blamed for choosing the fantasy scenario of being stranded with three sexy women. Finally, it seems that folks like Donald Rumsfeld and Martha Stewart conjure up less than romantic images." |
