Sean’s
brother drives on with repairs despite ban threat
15 Juli 2002
SIR SEAN
CONNERY’S brother Neil has been preparing for a lengthy road
ban - by doing up his driveway.
Neil Connery, 64, admitted driving at almost three times the
legal alcohol limit when he appeared in court last week.
The ex-plasterer faces a driving ban or even jail when he is
sentenced later this month. But in recent days Mr Connery has
been hard at work in the driveway of his Edinburgh home with a
cement mixer and a wheelbarrow.
As he applied a layer of cement to a section of the drive, he
said he had been planning the job for some time. "I’m
just making the drive good," Mr Connery said. "I’ve
been meaning to do it for years, but haven’t had the time.
People seem to think I drive around in the Mercedes like I’m
some kind of superstar, but the car is 24 years old," he
said.
He said he has no plans to sell the car and does not know what
he will do with the car if he is banned from the road. Mr
Connery was stopped by police on the A921 Fife coast road near
Burntisland in June. At Dunfermline Sheriff Court he admitted
driving while over the drink-drive limit.
