Dressed to Kilt

5th april 2006: Sean Connery took part in the annual Tartan Day celebrations in New York. It was his first public appearance since having surgery to remove a tumour from his kidney.

The European Film Awards

On December 3rd 2005, Sean won the European Film Academy Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Film Awards in Berlin. Accepting his award from Jean-Jacques Annaud, who directed him in The Name of the Rose, Connery spoke of his dream of an independent Scotland, telling delegates he wished "Scotland was independent and had a voice in Europe". He then invited everyone to Scotland for the 50th Edinburgh Film Festival. "Just ask for me and you'll get a good seat," he joked.

30th Wedding Anniversary

On June 1st 2005, Sean and his wife Micheline held a party at Chateau de Groussay outside of Paris, to celebrate their 30 years of marriage. They married May 6th 1975 in Spain, both have been married before.

Roland Garros 2005

The same day, they attended the 2005 French Tennis Open at Roland Garros in Paris.
