On
December 3rd 2005, Sean won the European Film Academy Lifetime
Achievement Award at the European Film Awards
in Berlin.
Accepting his
award from Jean-Jacques Annaud, who directed
him in The Name of the Rose, Connery spoke of
his dream of an independent Scotland, telling
delegates he wished "Scotland was
independent and had a voice in Europe".
He then
invited everyone to Scotland for the 50th
Edinburgh Film Festival. "Just ask for me
and you'll get a good seat," he joked.
