On June 8th 2006, Sean Connery was honoured with the American Film Institute's annual lifetime achievement award in Hollywood.
The
event featured tributes from a number of friends and
colleagues including Steven Spielberg, Tom Jones,
Pierce Brosnan, Mike Myers, Julia Ormond, Andy Garcia,
Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Caine, James Earl Jones,
Craig Ferguson, Tippi Hedren, Eddie Izzard, Ian
McShane, Daniel Craig, Sidney Lumet, Terry Gilliam,

Connery, on stage at last to a standing

stage, with much applause. Harrison Ford then presented him with the AFI
award, to which Connery said he had "no idea this was such a big deal!" Connery ended the night with another standing ovation, after saying
"I'm more than pleased that you liked my work" and
"though my feet are tired, my heart is not."
